nora's 1st bday

it was my friend cynthia's daughter nora's bday a few weeks ago
i pondered about what to get her
i knew i wanted to make something for her but couldn't come up with anything until...

i copied, no i got inspired by a pillow from the  land of nod. :p

nora's family recently moved so i figured it would be a nice accent to her new room!
instead of just a pillow, i made a sun as well to accompany the cloud.
sun ended up looking more like a sunflower and the shape of the cloud was harder to sew perfectly by hand but in the end i thought it came out nice.

apparently, her older sister hannah is "borrowing" them at the moment. :)
happy bday nora!

dyi: onesies

its been a while...
been busy with lots of things...baby showers being one of them!

i will admit, as much as i would like to take credit for this idea, i can't.
i saw it at the brooklyn flea and thought what a great idea!

buy plain onesies and make cute tops using fabric, felt, buttons etc!
sewing machine NOT required....although i'm sure it'll make things much faster!

RRRRRRRRR!!!!!! :)

laptop case

my bf got the macbook air couple years ago and never got a case for it.
that thing is so light and skinny that you just need a nice slip to protect it.

i surprised her by making her a case for her bday this year.

it's super easy to make!
i just got the dimensions of the laptop from apple.com
cut out felt according to the dimensions, but giving it some extra room
(just in case!)
sewed along the sides to hold and to decorate
made a flap on top
used fabric glue to fold down the sides
sewed on buttons for decoration
that's it!

hannah pai's room

my friend cynthia recently gave birth to her beautiful daughter hannah.
she wanted to decorate the walls of her room and asked me to make something for her.

we brainstormed a bit and decided we wanted something that would be decorative as well as educational.

the result?
pretty patterns of shapes that hannah can learn as she grows up!

mod podge was my bf for this project.
if you don't know mod podge, you are in for a treat.
its a glue, sealer, and a finish, ALL in one!

I used mod podge to give the painted surface a nice glossy finish and to glue down the fabric.
mod podge, available at your local craft store.
